Mengenal Fungsi, Prinsip Kerja Low Voltage Battery Disconnect dan Apa itu LVD?

Introduksyon

Dalam dunia elektronik maupun elektrik, pengontrol status pengosongan terdapat beberapa istilah diantaranya, low voltage disconnect atau low voltage battery disconnect yang disingkat LVBD, low voltage cut-off dan undervoltage cut-off. Dari beberapa istilah tersebut ternyata memiliki makna yang sama.

Jadi, low voltage disconnect yang biasa dikenal LVD atau undervoltage cut-off yang kependekannya UVC artinya pemutus tegangan baterai terendah yang merupakan fitur perlindungan pemakaian daya berlebih yang sering disebut dengan overdischarging protection.

Perlindungan pemakaian atau pengosongan berlebih (overdischarging protection ) adalah fitur keselamatan, dengan mekanismenya mencegah pengosongan baterai di bawah tingkat voltase tertentu. Ini dilakukan untuk melindungi baterai dari kerusakan dan untuk memastikan umurnya panjang.

Pengertian LVD

Yang dimaksudkan dengan LVD (low voltage disconnect) atau UVC (under-voltage cut-off adalah sirkuit pengatur level tegangan dimana beban diputuskan dari baterai ketika tegangan turun di bawah level yang telah ditentukan. LVD menentukan DoD (depth of discharge) maksimum aktual dan kapasitas baterai yang tersedia.

Tujuan utama LVD adalah untuk mencegah kerusakan pada baterai yang terhubung dengan peralatan (beban) listrik yang disebabkan oleh pengosongan yang berlebihan. Jadi, pengaturan titik batas (set-point) LVD yang tepat akan menjaga kesehatan baterai yang baik sekaligus memberikan kapasitas baterai maksimum yang tersedia ke sistem.

Fungsi LVD

LVD/UVC ini biasanya digunakan dalam sistem kelistrikan bertenaga baterai atau sistem cadangan baterai. Fungsi LVD untuk mencegah pengosongan baterai yang dalam akibat pemakaian daya listrik yang berlebihan yang dapat mengurangi masa pakai baterai.

Fitur penting dari LVD adalah pemutusan voltase baterai secara otomatis dan penyambungan kembali secara otomatis, yang membantu mengidentifikasi voltase baterai, dan melindungi dari kerusakan baterai serta peralatan listrik.

Dalam aplikasi untuk skala rumah maupun komersial, LVD tersedia dalam berbagai jenis dan ukuran untuk memenuhi kebutuhan spesifik sistem kelistrikan tenaga baterai. LVD ditemukan di sebagian besar dalam modul sirkuit (circuit module) dan perangkat charge controller yang berupa fitur.

Umumnya, LVD beredar di pasaran berupa modul sirkuit yang dikenal dengan board module dan panel mount module. Sedangkan fitur LVD, biasanya sudah tertanam dalam perangkat PCM atau BMS dan divais charge controller, seperti SCC/MPPT, WCC, ECU Otomotif, RC Pesawat dan perangkat charge controller lainnya.

Prinsip Kerja LVD

Secara teknis, sirkuit LVD biasanya terpasang diantara baterai dengan beban dan dapat berupa divais mandiri seperti charge controller atau modul sirkuit perlindungan (PCM) dan atau terintegrasi dengan sistem manajemen baterai (BMS). LVD/UVC bekerja dengan dua kondisi atau dua ambang batas tegangan (voltage tresholds).

  • Pertama: Titik setel (set-point) tegangan rendah dimana kontrol status LVD akan memutuskan beban dari baterai untuk mencegah pemakaian berlebih ini dikenal dengan low voltage disconnect (LVD)
  • Kedua: Pengaturan batas tegangan tinggi di mana baterai akan terhubung kembali dengan beban yang disebut load voltage reconnect (LVR).

Pengaturan ambang batas tegangan terendah dan tertinggi pada LVD berdasarkan deep of discharge (DoD) adalah:

  • Berlaku untuk baterai 12V, ambang terendah 11,6 volt untuk pelepasan baterai dan ambang tertinggi pada 13,2 volt untuk menyambungkan kembali dengan beban.
  • Sementara pada baterai 18650 atau litihium 3,7V, tiitk batas bawah 2,6 volt sebagai pemutus tegangan baterai dan batas atas 3,3 volt menghubungkan kembali dengan beban.
  • Sedangkan baterai 6V, titik setel rendah 5,8 volt sebagai pelepasan baterai dan titik setel tinggi 6,2 volt yaitu beban kembali terkoneksi dengan baterai.

Prinsip kerja dari LVD ini ialah memantau dan mengontrol status voltase sumber listrik dalam hal ini baterai. Ketika voltase baterai turun mencapai batas pengaturan level terendah, secara otomatis sirkuit pengontrol status memutus baterai dari beban. Dan jika, disaat baterai sudah terisi penuh sesuai titik setel tertinggi maka baterai akan kembali terhubung dengan beban secara otomatis.

Jadi, dalam penggunaan atau pemakaian baterai, sirkuit perlindungan baterai semacam pengontrol status low voltage disconnect ini sangat dibutuhkan karena berguna untuk melindungi baterai agar kapasitasnya tidak terkuras sampai habis yang dapat menurunkan kinerja baterai.

Kegunaan LVD

Pengontrol status low voltage disconnect atau under-voltage cut-off ini terbukti berguna dalam banyak aplikasi seperti:

  1. Dalam sistem kelistrikan tenaga surya stand-alone, pemutusan tegangan rendah (LVD), yang berfungsi untuk melindungi baterai dari pengosongan berlebihan selama periode sinar matahari rendah atau permintaan energi tinggi.
  2. Dalam sistem pencahayaan/lampu darurat (emergency light), LVD digunakan untuk mencegah pengosongan baterai yang berlebihan selama pemadaman listrik yang berkepanjangan.
  3. Demikian pula, pada telekomunikasi dan pusat data mengandalkan LVD untuk melindungi baterai yang menyediakan daya cadangan selama pemadaman listrik.
  4. Pada kendaraan listrik, LVD mencegah kerusakan baterai, yang dapat mengakibatkan berkurangnya jangkauan dan kerusakan baterai permanen.
  5. Terakhir, LVD melindungi baterai pada aplikasi kelautan dan di kapal dari pengosongan berlebih, yang dapat menyebabkan kerusakan baterai dan hilangnya daya.

Konklusyon

  1. Pemutus tegangan rendah yang biasa disebut LVD adalah mekanisme keselamatan dengan mencegah tegangan baterai rendah, yang dapat merusak baterai. Ini biasanya dipasang antara baterai dan peralatan listrik.
